Rules/Format

The Fall BBJJO event this year will be held on Oct 15th and is a Gi Only ROUND ROBIN style tournament.

*TOURNAMENT FORMAT*

This is a round robin format tournament. Competitors are separated by rank, then by weight, with the first five lightest competitors making a division, the next five lightest making the next division and so on. Weigh-in is on the day of the tournament, and as there are no set weight classes, there should be no need for weight cutting.

With a round robin format, each competitor is matched against each of the other four people in the division, meaning every competitor has FOUR FIGHTS for the day.

The goal of this tournament is to provide positive tournament experience without the normal stress and drama associated with the bigger competitions. In single elimination tournaments, if a competitor loses their first fight, that is the end of the day. This tournament offers competitors months of tournament experience in one day!

Division winners are determined by overall performance. Each competitor receives the following points for each round of their division:

Win via submission: 3 points
Win via points: 2 points
Draw: 1 point
Loss: 0 points
Bye: 0 points

In the event of a standings tie, the winner will be determined by the results of their match.

*MATCH POINTS*

2 POINTS: Takedown, Sweep, Knee on belly
3 POINTS: Passing the guard
4 POINTS: Mount, Back control
This tournament is run to IBJJF rules. However, with our aim to have more action and more submissions, we do NOT pay advantages.
